Project Information

Tracey Elementary School, constructed in 1939 with additions in 1966 and 1988, is a two story building with a partial basement that serves approximately 480 pupils in Prekindergarten to grade 5. Enrollment is projected to be stable over the next eight years however the school is an aged building and in need of renovation.

Some work, such as roof replacement and selected toilet room upgrades has been completed over the past few years, however considerable improvements are needed to building shell, interior and systems. These additional improvements and alterations include, but are not limited to, the building envelope (masonry restoration and repair, window replacement, exterior doors and louvers, etc.); building infrastructure (installation of fire sprinkler system, repair and replacement of emergency lighting, fire alarm, security systems, etc.); building systems (replacement of boilers, ventilation upgrades, and temperature control systems, etc.); code compliance (toilet room accessibility, door hardware, etc.); hazardous materials abatement (mostly floor tile), and site work such as replacement of concrete walks and curbs, where appropriate.

The preliminary construction cost budget for the Tracey School alterations is approximately $3.6 million, with a total project budget of $4.3 million including all soft costs and project contingencies.
