Project Information

Roton Middle School, constructed in 1966, is located on Highland Avenue in Norwalk, CT, and is a two and three story building that serves approximately 520 pupils in grades 6-8. The project anticipates expanding the school by approximately 1,400 sq. ft. to create a connector between the two and three story school wings at the upper floors to improve circulation, accessibility and accommodate a new three stop elevator.

Other improvements and alterations contemplated to the existing building include the building envelope (e.g. masonry restoration and repair, window replacement, exterior doors and louvers, etc.); building infrastructure (e.g. installation of fire sprinkler system, repair and replacement of emergency lighting, fire alarm, security systems, etc.); building systems (e.g. replacement of boilers, HVAC and temperature control systems, etc.); code and ADA compliance work; and hazardous materials abatement (mostly floor tile), and renovating science rooms

The trade construction cost budget for the Roton School alterations is approximately $3.7 million, with a total project budget of $5.8 million including all soft costs and project contingencies. Construction is anticipated to commence in the spring of 2006 and targeted for completion fall 2007.
