Project Information  

Norwalk High School located on 23 Calvin Murphy Drive in Norwalk, CT, constructed in 1971, serves approximately 1,769 pupils grades 9-12. Enrollment is projected to increase to over 1,900 pupils by the school year 2007-08.  Improvements and alterations are contemplated to the existing building. These spaces include, but are not limited to, main administration and house office; science wing, music wing; industrial technology areas; art rooms; swimming pool; gymnasium, locker and team rooms.


In addition, considerable work is anticipated to replace and upgrade the major building components including building envelope (exterior windows and doors replacement.); building infrastructure (replacement of interior lighting, upgrade and/ or replacement of emergency lighting, fire alarm, security, clock and PA systems); building systems (replacement of unit ventilators, air handling units, cabinet unit heaters, refurbishment of boilers, replacement of HVAC and temp. control systems); code compliance, hazardous materials abatement; and site work such as the expansion and reconfiguration of parking areas, concrete walks, curbs, and drives. The Board of Education filed this project with OSF as a "Expansion and Alteration" project. Total project budget is $32,500,000 including abatement costs, design costs, soft costs, and project contingencies. Anticipated start of construction in the Spring of 2006.
