Project Information  

Kendall School is an Elementary School constructed in 1951 with additions in 1966 and 1989, currently serving approximately 510 pupils in grades Pre-Kindergarten to grade five. The project scope at Kendall Elementary School includes expanding the school by constructing 8 additional classrooms, including corridors and connectors, as well as relocation and alterations of existing classrooms and administration offices. The classroom addition will comprise approximately 8,000 square feet.


Renovation work includes the building envelope (masonry restoration and repair, window replacement, exterior doors, replace exterior lighting, etc.); reconfiguration of building interior (reorganization and relocation of administration, library guidance and health suites, library/media center, etc.); building infrastructure (installation of fire sprinkler system, repair and replacement of emergency lighting, fire alarm, upgrade security systems, etc.); building systems (replacement of boilers, HVAC and temperature control systems, upgrade and add additional exhaust and ventilation system, etc.); building interior (replace ceilings, floors, painting, millwork, window treatments, code compliance, toilet room accessibility, hardware, etc.); hazardous materials abatement (mainly floor tile), and site work such as reconfiguration of entry driveway to separate the parent drop off from the buses, site drainage improvements, and replacement of playground surfaces. Total project budget is $7,900,000 including abatement costs, design costs, soft costs, and project contingencies. Construction started June, 2005.
